This UCSF study is testing whether personalized deep brain stimulation (DBS) — an implanted device combined with the medication buprenorphine — can safely reduce opioid craving and use for people who haven't been helped by other treatments. It involves brain surgery and frequent visits over 1.5–2 years, and participants are compensated for their time.
