Job Description
iReading TUTOR is seeking an experienced and compassionate tutor to work with a 16 year old - student with Autism Spectrum Disorder, focusing on reading comprehension and literacy development.
Position Details
• Schedule Availability Required: Monday–Friday, 10:00 AM–12:00 PM
• Tutoring Commitment: 2-4 hours per week
• Contract Position (Independent Contractor)
• 1099 issued in January 2027
Qualifications
Required:
• Science of Reading training and knowledge
• Experience working with students with special needs, particularly Autism Spectrum Disorder
• Strong communication and literacy instruction skills
• Ability to communicate effectively with parents and the tutoring center
• Ability to take attendance and session notes through an online tutoring portal after each session
Preferred:
• Lindamood-Bell Visualizing and Verbalizing (V/V) training and experience
• Orton-Gillingham certification and experience
• Background in Special Education
• Elementary Education, English, Math, Communication Disorders, Literacy, Speech-Language Pathology (SLP), or related fields
• Current college students or graduates from Colleges of Education or Special Needs programs with student-contact experience
Responsibilities
• Provide individualized reading comprehension instruction
• Utilize evidence-based literacy strategies aligned with the Science of Reading
• Incorporate Lindamood-Bell Visualizing and Verbalizing strategies when appropriate
• Monitor student progress and communicate updates as needed
• Complete attendance and session documentation after each tutoring session
