Research Associate II- Microbiology And Immunology

Job Title

Performs a variety of routine and non-routine research assignments and experiments and assists with lab maintenance responsibilities.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in basic science or equivalent and 2 years of related experience or Master's degree in basic science or equivalent and no experience required.

Specific Job Related Duties:
• Under general supervision, performs routine and non-routine research assignments and experiments of moderate complexity.
• Assist senior research scientist/lab manager for the planning, coordinating, and conducting standard bioresearch studies, provides setup and conducts standard biomedical experiments by following general technical instructions.
• Prepares biological assays and conducts quantitative and qualitative analysis.
• Makes modifications to research procedures as determined by Lab manager/Scientists and/or Principal Investigator.
• Assist the lab manager/scientists for maintaining records of all tests performed and data collected and provides preliminary analysis of results.
• Assists in the compilation and tabulation of data and analysis of final data.
• Assists others in the lab to accurate assembly, calibration, operation and modification of a variety of laboratory equipment as defined by appropriate guidelines.
• Maintains lab for animal and environmental safety compliance.
• Maintains lab inventory of supplies and equipment.
• May provide guidance to students or junior research staff.
• Adheres to internal controls established for department.
• Performs related duties as required.

Salary Range:

Commensurate with experience.

Preferred Skill/Competency:
• Basic skills for animal/BSL-2 and/or animal/BSL-3 laboratories
• Quantitative/qualitative biological assays related to basic immunology and virology
• Tissue cultures, Western blotting, ELISA, microneutralization, RNA/DNA extraction, qPCR, flow cytometry, and other quantitative/qualitative biological assays relevant to basic immunology and virology
