Job Description
to listen to their challenges and issues while also helping to build support plans and foster healthy coping skills for clients to follow. IYG’s counseling programs are short-term, strengths based, and trauma informed.
Position Responsibilities:
· Evaluate client needs and develop customized support plans.
· Support staff and clients in developing coping mechanisms for stress and trauma.
· Conduct ongoing consultations to determine client needs and provide resources.
· Host both Individual and group therapy sessions.
· Monitor client progress and adjust their support plans as needed.
· Manage client database and track information/progress.
· Schedule intakes and appointments and maintain the schedule.
· Coordinate with social and medical agencies, healthcare providers, and community outreach programs to provide clients with needed services.
· Coordinate with IYG Case Management team to build client care plans as needed.
· Documentation services provided and resources connected for all clients.
· Take part in regular professional development, trainings, and courses to stay up to date on mental health best practices, especially as they pertain to LGBTQ+ young people.
· Meet with team members as scheduled.
· Other duties as assigned.
Reports to: Director of Mental Health Therapy (LSW/LCSW)
Position requirements:
· Master’s degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or related field.
· Two or more years’ experience in providing therapy.
· One or more years working with LGBTQ youth in counselling
· Hold a valid Indiana Counseling License.
· Ability to schedule and maintain client appointments.
· Strong knowledge of youth development and experience working with at-risk youth.
· Experience working with youth from various racial, ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
· Must be organized, confidential, and have excellent follow-up skills.
· Strong understanding and knowledge of HIPAA.
· Strong work ethic with the ability to self-start.
· Strong foundational knowledge and competency of LGBTQ+ issues, needs, and terms.
· Must pass all background checks.
