Position: Behavior Technicians and Paraeducators
Location: Harwinton Consolidated, Lake Garda Elementary, Har-Bur Middle, and Lewis S. Mills High Schools
Schedule: Hours vary by building
Beginning wages: BT's $21.75/hr, Paraeducators $18.40/hr
Reports to: Building and Department Administrators
Starting Date: Commencement of the 2024-2025 school year

Behavior Technicians will assist, tutor, and instruct students who present with behavioral and/or mental health
needs. The Behavior Technician will assist with the direct implementation of skill-acquisition and behavior
reduction plans developed by a BCBA and / or Special Education teacher. Additionally, the Behavior Technician
will assist with the implementation of Special Education programming. Behavior technicians assist with core
academics, executive functioning skills, and student care. They have the unique opportunity to
contribute to positive educational outcomes by working as part of the outstanding team dedicated
to educating our students.

Qualifications
• Certified Behavior Tech or Registered Behavior tech OR
• Participation in additional 40 hours of training provided for Behavior Techs

Special Education Paraeducators assist students with special needs under the direction of a certified teacher.
The special education paraprofessional assists the teacher in general daily classroom activities, help special
needs students, and cares for their physical, emotional health and safety, affirming their abilities, and striving to
promote dignity in all relationships. They teach small groups of students by providing support for the
essential skills for learning. Paraeducators assist with core academics, executive functioning skills,
and student care. Paraeducators have the unique opportunity to contribute to positive
educational outcomes by working as part of the outstanding team dedicated to educating our
students.

Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Two years of college credit OR
• An Associates' degree (or higher) OR
• Pass a paraeducator assessment (Para Pro)
