Job Description

POW&R, Autism Delaware’s adult services program, is seeking compassionate and dependable Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to support adults with autism in residential settings.

Direct Support Professionals play an important role in helping individuals live as independently as possible while supporting them in their homes and within the community.

We are currently hiring full-time, part-time, and per diem staff for all shifts.

Available Shifts

Shifts vary depending on the residential site and the needs of the individuals being supported. Typical shifts may include:

Overnight: 11:00 PM – 8:00 AM or 9:00 AM

Afternoon Shift: 3:00 PM – 9:00 PM

Evening Shift: 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM

Weekend Shifts: Day, evening, and overnight

Schedules may vary depending on program needs.

Full-Time

Part-Time

Per Diem

Weekend and holiday availability is a plus.

A 15% weekend shift differential is offered for all weekend shifts.

Position Responsibilities

Responsibilities vary depending on the needs of the individuals being supported and may include:

Assisting individuals with daily living activities

Supporting community participation and outings

Transporting individuals to appointments and community activities

Assisting with personal care and hygiene

Supporting meal preparation and household routines

Monitoring health or medical concerns

Supporting individuals who may display behavioral challenges

Encouraging independence, communication, and life skills

These duties are essential functions of the position and are part of providing quality residential support.

Transportation Requirement (Essential Job Function)

Because individuals are supported in community-based activities, staff must transport individuals in their personal vehicles during their work shift.

Mileage is reimbursed at $0.70 per mile

Applicants Must Have

Reliable personal transportation

A valid driver’s license

Proof of insurance

A clean driving record
