• Valid PA certification in Special Education PK-12 required
• Strong background in behavior management and ABA principles
• Excellent communication skills, organization skills, problem-solving skills, and ability to use technology to work effectively
• Ability to work as a member of a team, be courteous and able to deal effectively with people, able to work in an environment with frequent interruptions
• Must be able to cope with needs and behavior patterns of children, able to withstand emotional stress, must have a warm, friendly, helpful personality
• Ability to follow written and verbal directions, ability to complete assigned tasks with minimal supervision, ability to read, write, and do simple computation
• Ability to work independently and make work-related decisions and exercise good judgement with student interaction
• Current police, child abuse and FBI Fingerprint clearances required
• Clearance as an MA provider by the Commonwealth of PA and federal government (conducted by MCIU upon hire)
Duties & Responsibilities
• Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to each student's unique needs and abilities.
• Strong background in behavior management and ABA principles.
• Deliver specialized instruction in area of independent living skills, vocational and social-emotional skills using evidence-based strategies
• Foster communication, independence, and adaptive behavior skills.
• Use data collection and assessment tools to track student progress and adjust instruction as needed.
• Provide behavioral support and implement positive behavior intervention plans (PBIPs) in collaboration with school behavior specialists.
• Collaborate with other special education teachers, speech/language therapists, occupational therapists, physical therapist and other support personnel.
• Communicate with families.
• Create a structured, predictable, and sensory-friendly classroom environment.
• Maintaining accurate student records.
Location:
The Montgomery County Intermediate Unit is located in Norristown, PA and services children throughout Montgomery County, PA. Main St. Norristown, PA).
Work Schedule
Monday - Friday, 7.5 hours/day, 10 months (194 days/year)
2025-2026 Salary
Bachelor's, Step 1: $53,997/year
Master's, Step 1: $65,007/year
• Placement on salary schedule based on experience and/or education beyond the Master's Degree.

- •The Intensive Autistic Support Teacher is responsible for designing and implementing individualized instructional programs for students on the autism spectrum
- •The role involves creating a structured, supportive environment that addresses each student's social, emotional, and behavioral needs
- •Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to each student's unique needs and abilities
