). We provide options to meet the needs of Proactive Behavior Services and Proactive Behavior Therapy (i.e., The Practice) clients in their homes, communities, and school.
The Behavior Technician will collect data on programs, assist with parent training, and assist the BCBA with clinical tasks as requested. The Behavior Technician must go through training and become a Registered Behavior Technician within 90 days of being hired.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities [ED]:
• Focus on changing clientthe child's behavior by observing and measuring the behavior in real life environments.
• Collect data to track progress in reaching behavioral objectives identified in the behavior plan and periodically modify the plan, under the supervision of the BCBA, to adapt to the child's response to the intervention.
• Implement learning programs (communication, self-help, and play skills) as written and instructed by the BCBA.
• Collect data on all behaviors targeted and discuss with the supervisor weekly to analyze the information gathered and participate in initial and ongoing training.
• Assist BCBA to incorporate parent training so family members/caregivers can teach and support skills during typical family activities.
• Document each service activity on a session note immediately after each session.
• Complete mandatory, RBT training and refresher training and pass RBT Exam.
• Properly report all critical incidents and safety concerns regarding persons receiving services.
• Ensure that all documentation is completed in a timely manner and in accordance with established organizational procedures.
• Maintain respect and confidentiality for all clients.
• Maintain and protect the well-being of all clients during sessions and when emergency crisis situations arise.
• Effectively utilize company software programs as directed.
• Promote positive public relations, facilitate interagency collaboration, and advocate for the establishment and maintenance of comprehensive services.
• Accept all other responsibilities as assigned.
• Initiate and actively maintain a daily clean and sanitized clinical environment by performing tasks such as disinfecting client rooms, waiting areas, and staff offices, wiping down surfaces, vacuuming, mopping floors, emptying trash, cleaning restrooms, and adhering to infection control procedures.
Education and/or Experience:
• Experience working with children and adolescents in a classroom or 1:1 setting; and/or experience working with adults with developmental disabilities; and/or experience implementing the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis is desired.
• Required: High School Diploma
• Required: Must successfully complete Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) coursework and competency assessment and pass RBT Exam to obtain certification within 90 days of being hired.
• Preferred: Bachelor’s in Education, Psychology, Applied Behavior Analysis, Speech and Hearing Services, or a related field.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities [KSA]:
• Strong and timely communication skills to work with a diverse team.
• Excellent oral interpersonal skills.
• Respond quickly to crisis situations and be able to handle aggressive and self-injurious behaviors of clients.
• Reliable attendance record. Must meet a minimum of 95% attendance for scheduled sessions and follow established procedure for rescheduling or calling off.
• Basic computer skills and be able to use all required software.
• Ability to problem-solve and assist in decision-making, including during emergencies or when a supervisor is not onsite.
• Work productively to develop relationships with individuals, families, and natural supports.
• Proven creative abilities, strong organizational and time management skills.
• Maintain a high level of organization for file maintenance and record keeping.
Additional Requirements [AR]:
• Successful Completion of 40 hour Registered Behavior Technician classes. Pass RBT Exam to earn credential within 90 days of being hired.
• Successful completion of Crisis Management Training. Able to physically engage and intervene with clients in crisis.
• Successful completion of fingerprinting and criminal background check; BCI and FBI. Must be updated every 5 years.
• Valid Tetanus Vaccine. Must be updated every 7 years.
• Satisfactory professional reference checks.
• Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and copy of current vehicle insurance.
• Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds and quickly respond to children and aggressive behavior if required.
• Ability to work at a variety of work sites if required.
