Job Description

Eligibility comes first here, because the study is specific: it is designed for adults 40 to 80 who are non-smokers, who have early, mild memory changes, and who also have insulin resistance — fasting blood sugar that tends to run high. If that describes you, you may be able to join a paid study at the San Francisco Research Institute.

From Palo Alto, the research site is about 30 miles north; participants typically drive I-280 or take Caltrain up the Peninsula. All three visits are held at the San Francisco location.

The study evaluates Sabroxy®, a standardized plant extract, taken as a single daily capsule for eight weeks. It is randomized and placebo-controlled, so participants receive either the supplement or a matching inactive capsule. The team tracks insulin resistance with a fasting blood test and cognition with brief memory and working-memory tasks.

Completing the study is compensated $150. Please note this is participation in clinical research as a volunteer — it is not employment. A screening visit confirms whether the study is right for you.

This study is designed for people who

  • Are 40 to 80 years old
  • Do not smoke
  • Have noticed mild memory or attention changes
  • Have elevated fasting glucose or diagnosed insulin resistance
  • Live near Palo Alto and can reach San Francisco for three visits
