Job Description

Here is the practical picture for Sunnyvale residents thinking about taking part. The study runs about eight weeks. Day to day, it asks very little: one capsule, once a day, at home. The in-person part is three visits to the San Francisco Research Institute in San Francisco — roughly 38 miles north, reachable by car up I-280 or US-101, or by Caltrain up the Peninsula. Finishing the study is compensated $150.

What the study is looking at: whether Sabroxy®, a standardized botanical supplement, can improve memory and help the body handle blood sugar in adults who have both mild cognitive changes and insulin resistance. It is placebo-controlled and blinded, so half of participants receive the supplement and half receive an inactive capsule.

At the three visits, the study team measures insulin resistance from a fasting blood sample and checks memory and attention with short standardized tasks. There is no cost to join, and participants take part as research volunteers rather than employees.

Non-smoking adults 40 to 80 who have noticed some memory slippage and have a history of high blood sugar are encouraged to see if they qualify at a screening visit.

What the study needs

  • Sunnyvale-area adults aged 40 to 80
  • Non-smokers
  • Mild but noticeable memory or thinking changes
  • Higher-than-normal fasting blood sugar or insulin resistance
  • Ability to attend three visits in San Francisco
