Essential Duties
• Implements behavior intervention plans designed by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), including strategies like positive reinforcement, shaping, prompting and chaining, and seeks out appropriate consultation
• Provides one on one or small group support to individuals with developmental disabilities or behavioral challenges, teaching new skills, and managing problematic behaviors in various settings like home, school, or community, all while closely adhering to the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA)
• Accurately records and graphs behavioral data, including frequency, duration, and intensity of behaviors to monitor progress and inform behavior intervention plans
• Supports teaching skills related to communication, social interaction, self-care, academics including daily living through structured interventions
• Assists with conducting Functional Behavior Assessments
• Implements strategies to decrease challenging behaviors using evidence-based techniques
• Builds positive rapport with students, teachers, other related service providers and their families, providing updates on progress and addressing concerns
• Communicates effectively with supervising and supporting Board Certified Behavior therapists, related service providers to ensure coordinated support
• Actively participates in available professional learning related to support students within their educational setting
• Adheres to student confidentiality and ethical guidelines
• Regular attendance is required

Minimum Qualifications

Must hold valid Registered Behavior Technician certification from the Virginia Behavior Analyst Certification Board. Two years experience is preferred. Must hold certification in a restraint intervention program (preferably MANDT) or must obtain certification within 90 days of employment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Must be able to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds frequently and 25 to 50 pounds occasionally, and may assist, move, or restrain students when required to intervene in student safety issues. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, talk, lift, walk, stand, and hear.

Additional Information

The annual salary for this 11-month / 241-day position is $43,596.49. Annual salaries are prorated based upon actual work begin date.

Responsibilities

  • This position works under the supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) to provide direct behavioral interventions and support to students attending a public separate special education program in grades PreK-12 who exhibit challenging behaviors
  • The RBT will implement individualized behavior intervention plans (BIPs) designed to improve students' social, communication, and academic skills within the school environment
