ABA workforce mix

These categories overlap: dual-credential providers may also be included in the BCBA and RBT counts, so the numbers should not be added as separate groups. RBTs outnumber BCBAs by a little over two to one, suggesting a larger technician pool than supervisory pool. Because BCBAs supervise RBTs, sustaining service capacity depends on enough qualified supervisors to support technician work and clinical oversight. The registry also lists 48 providers with multiple taxonomies, another reminder that classifications can overlap and do not represent distinct workforce segments.

Demographics and organizations

Women account for 125 providers, men 23 and nonbinary providers 9. The reported gender percentages are 80%, 15% and 6%; they total more than 100% because of rounding. HOMECARE DMV, INC. appears twice in the notable-organization data, with records listing professional counselor and mental health counselor taxonomies. Repeated organization records can reflect separate registry entries or classifications, not necessarily separate employers. Richmond, Virginia Beach, Fairfax, Fredericksburg and Alexandria are the leading listed cities.

Virginia’s update shows a broad behavioral health registry presence and a larger RBT than BCBA count, making supervisory capacity an important consideration as ABA providers work to expand access.
