Nevada Clinical Trials Report — July 2026

Nevadans considering a clinical trial should check closing dates now: 20 recruiting studies are expected to close within the next 90 days, including one that accepts healthy volunteers. Nevada currently has 552 recruiting trials across 14 cities and 402 research sites, so a study that fits your condition or location may still be available—but screening can take time, and projected enrollment dates can change.

July brought 12 new trials, fewer than the 22 that opened in May. The new studies are concentrated in Las Vegas, but opportunities also opened in Reno and several smaller Nevada communities. Six of the new trials accept healthy volunteers, adding to 43 healthy-volunteer studies recruiting statewide.

Closing studies create a narrow window

The most urgent opportunities involve mental health, skin disease, cancer-related symptoms, and digestive conditions. Two closing-soon trials address major depressive disorder. Other studies involve atopic dermatitis, Crohn’s disease, bipolar disorder I or II with a major depressive episode, and head and neck cancer.

People with chemotherapy-related nerve or pain symptoms should pay close attention because the closing list includes several studies focused on these complications. Healthy adults also have one time-sensitive opportunity, but the available information does not identify its intervention or location. Anyone interested should confirm that the site is still screening and ask how long the consent and eligibility process will take.

New July research ranges from supplements to Phase 3 treatment

New Nevada trials cover everyday health concerns such as abdominal bloating, abdominal pain, digestive health, bad breath, coughing, fatigue, energy levels, eczema, atopic dermatitis, and eczema-prone skin. Dietary supplements account for 6 of the 12 new studies, while other interventions include biological products, a diagnostic test, behavioral research, a drug study, and a procedure.

Several studies stand out because of their sponsor, development phase, or planned enrollment:

• NCT07734649 — Sanofi’s Phase 1/2 study of an RSV and human metapneumovirus vaccine candidate in approximately 2,400 adults age 60 and older. The randomized, observer-blind study will evaluate immune response and safety.
• NCT07720271 — Novo Nordisk A/S’s Phase 3 AMAZE 9 study of once-daily zenagamtide tablets for people with excess body weight. The trial plans to enroll 950 participants who will receive zenagamtide or placebo.
• NCT07710820 — RAI Services Company’s study of whether access to a heated tobacco product affects cigarette reduction among current adult cigarette smokers. The study plans to include 1,060 participants.
• NCT07730268 — Ventric Health, LLC’s Vivio At-Home Study, enrolling 500 people with heart failure to compare the Vivio System’s measurements with CardioMEMS measurements.

The Sanofi vaccine study is the clearest new opportunity for older adults. It is also among the largest July launches and comes from a major pharmaceutical sponsor. Novo Nordisk’s Phase 3 obesity study offers another notable drug-development opportunity, although potential participants must meet the study’s requirements for excess body weight and other health factors.

The month’s sponsor mix is primarily industry-led: 10 new studies are classified as industry-sponsored and two as other. Sponsors include WeNatal, Edenboost, Larine C Corporation, Novo Nordisk A/S, RAI Services Company, Angelina Vera MD, Sanofi, and SuperBonsai Inc. WeNatal opened two studies, while the other named sponsors opened one each. The large share of supplement and other studies means people may find opportunities that do not involve an experimental prescription drug.

Las Vegas dominates, with smaller communities also represented

Las Vegas is the main center of new trial activity, with 10 of the month’s studies. Reno added two. New openings also appeared in Hawthorne, Pahrump, Winchester, and Winnemucca, extending research access beyond Nevada’s two largest cities.

This distribution is concentrated in the Las Vegas metro area but not limited to it. Residents in western and northern Nevada may find options in Reno, while people in more rural areas should search by travel distance rather than city alone. A trial’s overall participant target can be national or multicenter, but local enrollment may be limited to one site.

Healthy volunteers and older adults have options

Six of the 12 new trials accept healthy volunteers, and 43 healthy-volunteer studies are recruiting statewide. That gives adults without a diagnosed condition a meaningful set of possibilities, although each study may differ in age, lifestyle, medication, smoking, and other requirements.

None of the new trials specifically include children, and none are limited to women or men. Older adults are included in 11 new-trial eligibility profiles. The Sanofi vaccine study specifically targets adults age 60 and older, making it the most prominent age-defined opportunity opened in July.

People who should act first include Nevada residents with major depressive disorder, bipolar depression, Crohn’s disease, atopic dermatitis, cancer, or chemotherapy-related pain; adults interested in healthy-volunteer research; and adults age 60 or older who may qualify for the RSV and human metapneumovirus vaccine study. Patients should review inclusion criteria with the study team, continue any current treatment unless their clinician advises otherwise, and verify that recruitment remains open before making travel plans.

With 20 studies approaching their projected closing period and new recruiting activity continuing across Las Vegas, Reno, and smaller communities, Nevada’s trial landscape may shift quickly in the coming months. Checking listings regularly—especially for studies matching a specific diagnosis, age group, or willingness to participate as a healthy volunteer—will give prospective participants the best chance to reach sites before enrollment ends.
