Los Angeles participants should act quickly if they match a study in breast, prostate, ovarian, stroke, pancreatic, or other heavily represented conditions: 97 recruiting trials are expected to close within the next 90 days, including 11 that accept healthy volunteers. • NCT07690371 is a Phase 3 Nektar Therapeutics trial of rezpegaldesleukin, also called NKTR-358, for people at least 12 years old with moderate-to-severe atopic dermatitis. Planned enrollment is 510 participants.
• NCT07694739, sponsored by the University of Southern California, studies how e-cigarette influencer marketing affects adolescents’ perceptions. It plans to include 6,000 participants nationwide.
• NCT07721883, also sponsored by USC, examines how social-media posts about flavors and stealth use influence susceptibility to non-combustible tobacco products among adolescents and young adults. Planned enrollment is 4,500 participants.

Los Angeles facilities with the most recruiting studies

Participants have a particularly broad choice of academic medical centers and cancer programs. Cedars-Sinai Medical Center leads the listed facilities with 215 trials. Children’s Hospital Los Angeles follows with 117, and the University of California, Los Angeles has 90. Four of July’s 25 new trials accept healthy volunteers, adding to the broader pool of 184 healthy-volunteer studies already recruiting locally. Eleven new studies include children, two are female-only, one is male-only, and 16 include older adults. The two USC youth studies may be relevant to adolescents and young adults, although their recruitment is nationwide rather than limited to Los Angeles.

People with conditions connected to closing-soon studies should inquire now. Healthy adults should also move promptly if they find a suitable study, because volunteer enrollment can be limited even when the overall Los Angeles research market is large.
