Study Details
RATIONALE: Erlotinib may stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth. PURPOSE: This phase II trial is studying how well erlotinib works in treating patients with stage III or stage IV pancreatic cancer.

- Experimental: Arm 1 - Oral Erlotinib hydrochloridePatients receive oral erlotinib hydrochloride once daily on days 1-21. Courses repeat every 21 days for up to 12 months in the absence of disease progression or unacceptable toxicity

Progression-free Survival [ Time Frame: Every cycle for up to 52 weeks ]
